We strive to balance appointments that can be booked in advance and appointments available for urgent and unforeseen problems that arise on the day.
We review this balance regularly. We encourage patients to book in advance wherever possible and not to rely on ringing back to get an appointment released on the day.
In a Consultation, the GP will:
- listen and examine you as appropriate,
- identify possible diagnosis in order of risk,
- order laboratory tests if required
- provide advice, prescribe medication and/or refer you to hospital clinics and other health services if appropriate.
GP consultations are booked in 10 minute slots. If you have more than one problem, or if more than one family member needs to see a doctor, please book more than 1 appointment.
Any overflow of patients with urgent and unforeseen problems can be seen in ‘extra’ appointments at 11:50am or at 17:40pm, Monday to Friday. These are 5 minute appointments and you may not be able to see your choice of GP but we never turn patients with urgent problems away.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
Evening and weekend appointments

If you have booked an evening or weekend appointment in West Essex via your GP surgery and need to cancel or change it, please ring NHS111 and select option 3.
